Loraine McClean

Trustee since 2021 and from 2015 – 2018.  

Previously a Textile Selector and Trustee for Cornwall Crafts Association. 

Trained in Fashion & Textile Design, worked in theatre costume and as a knitwear designer; lectured in Fashion Design & Pattern-cutting / Art & Design / Knitwear Design, supporting and guiding students to fit them for the workplace.

Longstanding links with Walford Mill, as an onsite maker and exhibitor.  I am passionate about design and making and love how the Mill supports and encourages both upcoming and established designer-makers.

I am neurodivergent (Dyspraxia/ADHD) and understand how we all approach things in different ways.  In an earlier career as an Occupational Therapist I saw the positive effect creative making has on mental wellbeing. 

The Trustees are a very hands-on team and are a real joy to work with.
