Maureen Le Frenais

Artist, Illustrator and more!

Maureen is a figurative and abstract painter who enjoys experimenting with other art forms and reclaimed objects - often inspired by wonderful landscapes and quirky unexpected interactions. As well as exhibiting her own work she has curated two Open Exhibitions at Lighthouse Poole Arts Centre and in 2023 painted a large sculpture of a unicorn for the Unicornfest city trail in Bristol.

Locally, she is a member of Poole Printmakers and PEDAS Arts Society and one of the founder trustees for The Powerhouse Poole charity providing creative and wellbeing activities for the community.

After gaining a BA (Hons) in Graphic design from Coventry University and PGCE/ATD from Bristol University. Maureen started work as a designer/illustrator at Bannau Brecheiniog National Park, and her next role was at Guy’s Hospital as a Medical Illustrator. Most of her career since has been within charities, councils, museums, the National Trust, English Heritage, the RNLI and as a freelance consultant. She has project managed cultural heritage, interpretation, arts, and exhibition projects, commissioned public art sculptures, painted a few murals and enjoys collaborating on projects when opportunities arise.
