Richard Wilson

Richard's bold decorations and colourful earthenware stem from spending several years in Europe making pots and observing the slipware tradition before setting up his workshop in Abbotsbury.

His main focus is on contemporary looking decorations using coloured slips (clay). All pots are made on a wheel of slab built from flat clay. Each pot is decorated individually, inspired partly from the rythems of the landscape, or abstract patterns laid together with sketched lines over the top to make spontaneous designs. All pots are fired to 1120 degrees C in a gas kiln with a transparent glaze.
